Responsibilities

Every owner and resident shares responsibility for the security of our common area property, and you are responsible for your own personal safety and the security of your dwelling unit and your personal property, including your motor vehicle and its contents.

The Association contributes to our collective crime prevention activities by:

  1. Maintaining fences, gates, doors, locks, and lighting in working order.
  2. Sharing information with residents on trends observed from information received by victims.
  3. Sharing tips passed along by the police.
  4. Sharing video surveillance recordings, if available, with the police when a crime has been reported.

That said, please understand the Association is not responsible or accountable for the actions of its members, tenants, their guests, or unknown persons. Your primary authoritative assistance with crime reporting and investigations is the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

Do not contact the Association's Night Watchman about crimes in progress, crimes that occurred, or to deal with interpersonal situations until after you have contacted the police.

Please do contact the Night Watchman to report crimes once the police have been notified, or if you observe any other safety concerns, to assist the Association in performing its duties listed above.

The most common crimes that occur on our property include:

  1. Theft of bicycles and motorcycles
  2. Theft from automobiles
  3. Theft of packages delivered to residents' front doors
  4. Theft of mail
  5. Vandalism

Safety Tips

Here is what you can do to best protect yourself, and help the community:

  1. Double check that your car doors are locked, and roll your windows all the way up, every time you park. Do not leave valuables in your car, especially not in view.
  2. Lock your bicycles and motorcycles.
  3. Have packages delivered to secure locations.
  4. Be aware of those around you, who may be entering the property through the front lobby door or parking lot gate behind you, without authorization, and take whatever action you feel comfortable taking to address the situation.
  5. If you see a crime in progress or believe there is an immediate threat to individual safety or property, call the police at 911.
  6. Contact the police and the Night Watchman if you see suspicious activity.
  7. If you see problems around the property that concern safety (such as broken locks, evidence of squatters, evidence of vandalism, etc.) contact the Night Watchman.
  8. If you have been the victim of a crime, contact the police to file a report, and then inform the Night Watchman.

Video Surveillance

The Association maintains video cameras around the property for whatever assistance it may provide the Association in enforcing community rules, or for use by the police in investigating and prosecuting crimes. While the video recordings are the property of the Association, residents may request clips under certain circumstances. Click here for information on requesting video recordings.
